Public Outreach and Education

Perhaps the most enduring aspect of this project is the information we impart to the public and main stakeholders. Our outreach program has two main components:

  1. Workshops and Conference
  2. Educational Materials

The focus of our public outreach is to communicate the need and establish a Space Logistics community that will continue to exchange ideas and information long after any specific study is complete. To that end, we carry out and support a number of workshops to discuss space exploration logistics, and we identified industry and professional societies who have an interest in the scope and intent of space logistics. The main organizations and professional societies engaged in space logistics are:

Course Development

The development of courses in space logistics is a long term objective of our project. We will deliver these products to NASA and others through on-line courseware, through the OpenCourseWare (OCW) program at MIT ( http://ocw.mit.edu ). The courses will be freely available to the public and other universities, and we hope that it will provide the impetus for further development and interest. A space logistics and affordability module was delivered to the International Space University ( http://www.isunet.edu/ ) in 2006 and 2007.
