MIT Strategic Engineering

People

The Strategic Engineering Research Group (SERG) draws talented people from a number of departments, centers and laboratories at MIT as well as visitors from around the world. We are affiliated primarily with the Engineering Systems Division and the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT.

Values

We emphasize research excellence, real world impact and an open collaborative spirit. We balance the desire to solve the problems that our sponsors are interested in with the need for academic freedom and intellectual exploration.

Organization

The group is led by Professor Olivier L. de Weck.

Here is a list of Current Students in the research group. A significant number of students have received awards and fellowships, such as the NSF and NDSEG fellowships, to support their research. Active research areas, prior degrees, recent publications and awards are listed for each student as well as contact information. If a certain topic interests you, we encourage you to contact each researcher directly.

Alumni and Alumnae have graduated to dynamic careers in industry, academia and government service, often applying and further maturing the methods they developed during their time at MIT. Some have become entrepreneurs and have started their own firms. Follow this link to individual theses and research summaries of students who have graduated. Contact information is provided where it is available.

The strategic engineering Research and Administrative Staff focuses on advancing research and practice further, supporting our student researchers and sponsors and maintaining excellence of operations. Please email staff members directly with any question you may have.
