SpaceNet Goals
The goal of SpaceNet is to answer a three-tiered question relating to space exploration:
- Given a space exploration mission, is the transportation architecture feasible?
- Given an exploration campaign (one or more missions), can the demands for resources be satisfied?
- Given a set of feasible exploration campaigns, which one provides the best value derived from exploration?
To answer these questions, SpaceNet is focused in the following areas:
- Model space exploration from a logistics perspective
- Simulate one or more missions using discrete events
- Quantatively evaluate scenarios with respect to feasibility and measures of effectiveness
- Visualize the flow of elements and resources throughout the time-expanded network
- Optimize scenarios according to one or more measures of effectiveness
- Provide users (logisticians and mission architects) with a tool for performing trade studies and architecture analysis
